This month’s Employee Spotlight @ V2 is Sonata McPhail. Sonata is CPA certified with a Master’s degree in Taxation from Bentley University. She has been supporting V2 since 2017 and later moved into a Finance Director role in 2021. Sonata is an integral part of the team, partnering closely with our Executives on finance and budgeting across multiple departments of the organization.
How did you start your career with V2?
I began working with V2 as a contractor in 2017, supporting a variety of accounting & finance-related initiatives. Come 2021; I joined V2 full-time as a Finance Director.
How have you grown professionally & personally at V2?
I have a wide range of responsibilities at V2 that are not only knee-deep in accounting work but cover other aspects of the business (payroll, taxes, insurance, financial forecasts); I enjoy having a variety of work and learning and figuring out new things as they come along. I gained the confidence to make decisions and run with them while also knowing that there is a team who will support me when needed.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is not a particular thing/task/project that I am responsible for, but rather the fact that it offers variety; it is never boring. I also love the opportunity to utilize new technologies we use internally.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
What motivates me is knowing that I am contributing to the success of an amazing company while utilizing and developing my talents and skills.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
Henry David Thoreau. He has a quote that resonates with me – “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you imagined.â€
What are the three “must-have†qualities or skills needed to be successful in the Salesforce ecosystem?
- Positive attitude
- Being proactive
- Believing in the purpose of your work
These are all imperative qualities to be successful at V2.
